The Conference Venue

The symposium takes places in the Main Building of the University of Rostock, which is in the heart of the city center. From the conference hotels, it can either be reached by foot or via tram. The closest tram stations to the conference venue are “Neuer Markt” (6 minutes walking distance) and “Lange Straße” (3 minutes walking distance) and can be approached via the tram lines 1, 2, 5 and 6.

Getting to Rostock

From abroad via Hamburg Airport

Hamburg Airport and Berlin Airport are about the same distance from Rostock. S-Bahn and train services from Hamburg Airport to Rostock Main Station take between 3:15h and 2:30h. For train services visit the website of the Deutsche Bahn (https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml). You can also take a bus from Hamburg Main Station, which takes about the same time. The main provider for bus travels is https://meinfernbus.de/en.

From abroad via Berlin Airport

Berlin has two airports: Berlin Tegel Airport and Berlin Schönefeld Airport. From Tegel Airport (Terminal E), there are busses going directly to Rostock 5 or 6 times a day. A more regular bus service is provided from Berlin ZOB (Central Bus Station), which can be reached from Tegel via public transport. The main provider for bus travels is https://meinfernbus.de/en.

Another option is taking the train, which departs on a regular basis and takes you from Berlin Main Station or Berlin Jungfernheide to Rostock in 2:30h to 3h (https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml).

The second airport - Berlin Schönefeld - is further away. There is a bus going directly from Schönefeld Airport 2-5 times a day and more regular train services, taking you to Rostock in about 4h.

By Plane

Rostock also has an airport: Rostock-Laage. It can be approached from Zurich, Stuttgart, Munich, Majorca, Linz, Varna, Burgas, Kos, Heraklion, Rhodes, Antalya and Hurghada.

There is a regular bus service (No. 127) going from the airport to Rostock Main Station. Further information on the schedule can be found here (https://www.rebus.de/index.php?p=flughafen.htm).

It is a 30 minute car ride from Rostock-Laage to Rostock city. To get to Rostock, you need to get to the autobahn (motorway) A19 via L13 and L37. Follow the motorway A19 to the exist 6-Rostock-Ost and change to (the) B105 (direction Ribnitz-Damgarten/Stralsund/Rostock-Ost).

By Train

Coming from Hamburg

Follow (the motorway) A1 to the interchange 24 – „Kreuz Lübeck“. Then change to (the) A20, direction Rostock/Lübeck-Genin/Flughafen. At exit 14-Rostock-West change to (the) B103, direction Rostock-West/Rostock-Warnemünde/Rostock-Zentrum/Fähre/Überseehafen.

Coming from Berlin

Follow the motorway A10 direction Hamburg to “Dreieck Havelland”. Then change to motorway A24. Keep left at the interchange „Dreieck Wittstock (Dosse)“ and follow (motorway) A19. Then change to (the) B105 direction Damgarten/Stralsund/Rostock-Ost at the exist 6-Rostock-Ost.
